چکیده

A combined finite-discrete element method (FDEM) is proposed to model the dynamic fracture, fragmentation, and resultant muck-piling process during mining production by blast in underground mine. The key component of method, that is, transition from continuum discontinuum through fracture introduced detail, which makes superior continuum-based finite discontinuum-based discrete method. FDEM calibrated modelling crater formation blast. has well modelled stress propagation fragmentation process. In addition, captured crushed zone, cracked radial long crack zone. After that, employed sublevel caving an Then process, as initiation fragmenting Finally, effects borehole spacing initial gas pressure are discussed. It concluded a value numerical approach study rock

Discrete element modeling of explosion-induced fracture extension in jointed rock masses

The explosion process of explosives in a borehole applies a very high pressure on its surrounding rock media. This process can initiate and propagate rock fractures, and finally, may result in the rock fragmentation. Rock fragmentation is mainly caused by the propagation of inherent pre-existing fractures of the rock mass and also from the extension of the newly formed cracks within the intact ...

Fracture and fragmentation of simplicial finite element meshes using graphs

An approach for the topological representation of simplicial finite element meshes as graphs is presented. It is shown that by using a graph, the topological changes induced by fracture reduce to a few, local kernel operations. The performance of the graph representation is demonstrated and analyzed, using as reference the three-dimensional fracture algorithm by Pandolfi and Ortiz (Eng. Comput....

Blast Simulation in Underground Mines Using the Combined Finite-Discrete Element Method

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the application of a combined finite-discrete element program, such as ELFEN, for the simulation and prediction of backfill stope failure risks due to blast loading effects in underground mines. A real size of a backfilled stope blasted in the nearby rock of the paste fill is modelled. The dynamic fracture propagation and fragmentation in rock and the...

Finite Element Model for Brittle Fracture and Fragmentation

A new computational model for brittle fracture and fragmentation has been developed based on finite element analysis of non-linear elasticity equations. The proposed model propagates the cracks by splitting the mesh nodes alongside the most over-strained edges based on the principal direction of strain tensor. To prevent elements from overlapping and folding under large deformations, robust geo...

Discrete element modeling of a mining-induced rock slide

Slopes are subjected to stress redistributions during underground mining activities, and this may eventually cause deformation or landslide. This paper takes Madaling landslide in Guizhou Province, China as a case study to investigate the failure mechanism and its run-out behaviours by using discrete element method. Previous qualitative analysis indicated that the slope experienced four stages ...
